The football season might be taking a break over the summer, but kids should be encouraged to keep practising their ball skills if they want to make the England team one day.

The national side has definitely captured everyone’s attention lately, having gotten to the finals of the European Championships 2024. Despite losing to Spain 2-1 in the game, they gave a great fight and only conceded the second goal in the 86th minute.

Although it marks the 58th year since England has won an international football tournament, this was one of the closest opportunities the side has had to take home the coveted trophy.

The team, which includes Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, and Jack Grealish, among others, have certainly gone a long way to inspire the next generation of players, and possibly another team who could finally break the dry spell.

That is why youngsters need to keep their Hummel training kits out this summer, so they can practise as much as they can, even if their team is not training. The extra hours of fitness, ball skills, and agility training could pay off in the long run if they are disciplined and dedicated.

Spain’s Lamine Yamal is only 17 years old, making him the youngest player in history to take part in a World Cup or European Championship final. Although this story is unique, it just shows that the dream of playing for your national side might not be in the distant future for some youngsters in the UK.

And now that England manager Gareth Southgate has announced his resignation, there could be a big shake-up within the team, which might mean recruiting new, younger players and training them to be able to play in the next international tournament.
