Football World Stunned Following Eriksen’s On-Pitch Collapse

Football players and fans from all around the world were united in sending messages of support to Christian Eriksen after he collapsed on the pitch during the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland.
While Eriksen is said to be awake and has sent upbeat messages to his teammates, some experts are warning that he may never play the game professionally again, according to Sky News.
Eriksen’s current club Inter Milan and former clubs Tottenham and Ajax all issued messages of support, as well as Fabrice Muamba, who suffered a cardiac arrest while playing in an FA Cup game in 2012.
Eriksen collapsed at the Parken Stadium shortly before half-time, leaving players from both teams looking visibly distressed.
The Danish international midfielder underwent prolonged treatment on the pitch before being stretchered away, and it was later confirmed that he was awake and in stable condition in hospital.
President of the Football Association, the Duke of Cambridge, said: “Encouraging news about Christian Eriksen, we are all thinking about him and his family. Well done to the medical team and Anthony Taylor for their calm and swift action.”
Following the incident and the teams leaving the pitch, fans chanted Eriksen’s name and applauded. The teams were consulted and decided to restart the match at 7.30 PM UK time.
UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin said in a statement: “Moments like this put everything in life into perspective. I wish Christian a full and speedy recovery and pray his family has strength and faith.
“At these times, the unity of the football family is so strong and he and his family carry with them the good wishes and prayers of everyone. I heard of fans of both teams chanting his name. Football is beautiful and Christian plays it beautifully.”
